Lumturi Blloshmi. A Personal Geography

Year: 2022

Tablet-based 3D virtual environment

Commissioned for the Albanian Pavilion at the 59. Venice Biennale, the work reflects on the life and practice of the Albanian artist Lumturi Blloshmi, who died in 2020 due to Corona. The work takes Blloshmi’s apartment in Tirana as a place of investigation and as a starting point for thinking about her legacy.

The environment is composed of 3D scans of objects from Blloshmi's apartment and archive and accompanied with a soundtrack made of field recordings taken in the city. The work aims to allow visitors to the pavilion another point of access into Blloshmi's world via the metaphor of a "personal geography" (i.e. a fictional map of sorts).

A demo video can be seen on the website of the Albanian pavilion.
